Ike Williams vs. Rudy Cruz Ticket 1950 |

World lightweight champ Ike Williams, of Trenton, NJ, scored a 10-round decision over Rudy Cruz, of Los Angeles, in a 10-round non-title fight on Dec. 18, 1950, at the Arena in Philadelphia. On the undercard, future world light-heavyweight champ Harold Johnson, of Philadelphia, knocked out Harry Daniels. pf New York, in two rounds. Another future world champion, Philadelphia middleweight Joey Giardello, also won by K0 as he stopped Leroy Allen, of Paterson, NJ, in five. Unbeaten welterweight prospect Gil Turner, of Philadelphia, scored his 13th consecutive knockout, blitzing Massimo Sanna, of Italy, in one. Ah, the goold old days! Hall-of-Fame promoter Herman Taylor issued "exchange requisition" tickets to managersm trainers, boxer who were not on the card. They were equired simply to pay the tax on the ticket. In this case, the bearer had to pay to Taylor $1.50 in taxes for a $5.00 ticket.
