Kates vs. Victor Galindez I Poster 1976 |

This is a nice 25x38 poster from the first WBA world light-heavyweight title fight between champion Victor Galindez, of Argentina, and challenger Richie Kates, of Bridgeton, NJ, on May 2, 1976, in Johannesburg, South Africa. The fight was halted in the third round when Galindez suffered a terrible cut, but allowed to continue until the end when Galindez finally stopped Kates in the 15th round. In reality, Kates should have been awarded the title in the third round. This poster depicts South African contender Pierre Fourie either reporting on the fight or hoping to fight the winner.
