Briscoe vs. Jorge Rosales Poster 1972

Philadelphia's Bad Bennie Briscoe knocked out Mexican Jorge Rosales in one round before a crowd of more than 5,000 on March 21, 1972, at the Arena in West Philadelphia. The big commotion came in the semifinal when Billy "Dyanmite" Douglas, of Columbus, OH, was awarded a 10th-round KO over game Carlos Marks, of Trinidad, after staggering Marks in that final round. Douglas, who had made a big hit six weeks earlier by blowing out Philadelphia lefty Billy Lloyd in one round in the same ring, was outboxed and outclassed for nine rounds by the light-hitting Marks, a consummate professional who fought the best all over the world. Bottles filled the air after the stoppage. Newspaperman hid under the ring and fans ran for cover. When things settled down, Briscoe ended the evening early with three first-round knockdowns over Rosales. This is a mint 22x28 poster from that memorable evening.

Sale Price: $1,500.00 plus $25.00 shipping, handling, and insurance.
